GD90 Trace

Our GD90 Trace is designed to accommodate a wide variety of sample types, from high-purity materials to industrial alloys and beyond. Typical sample sizes for GDMS analysis include:

  • Pins: 2mm x 2mm x 20mm or ~3mm ø x 20mm
  • Flat Blocks: ~15mm x ~15mm x >1mm

With the flexibility of secondary binder mounting, our GDMS technology can analyze a variety of unconventional sample types, such as:

  •   Powders: Granular and fine powders
  •  Thin Foils: Including foils <1µm
  • Other Irregular Samples: Wafers, shot pellets, screws, wires, chips, filings, turnings, and shards

Our system is also optimized for conducting and non-conducting materials, providing solutions for a comprehensive range of sample types.

GD90 Trace Applications: Advanced Elemental Analysis for Diverse Materials

Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) with the GD90 Trace offers a highly versatile, established approach to elemental analysis, providing precise measurement of elements from major to trace levels across a wide variety of materials. Designed to handle a broad range of sample purities, matrices, and geometries, the GD90 Trace can adapt to nearly any analytical need, making it ideal for complex applications in materials research and quality control.

Analyzing Non-Conductive and Low-Melting Point Samples

For oxides and other non-conductive materials, the GD90 Trace operates in direct current (DC) mode. These samples can be mounted on a conductive binder—typically indium—allowing for straightforward and efficient preparation. The GD90 Trace’s cryo-cooling capability also enables accurate analysis of low melting point materials, including tin (Sn), antimony (Sb), indium (In), and gallium (Ga), ensuring versatility for temperature-sensitive materials.
